Parenting Groups

There's a reason the saying "it takes a village" is still around. Even though many of us do not have true villages anymore, we still need one! Parenting groups give parents an opportunity to talk with other parents about the hard, new, or just plain weird phases we're in... without little ears hearing.

The Toddler and Preschooler Series

This eight week group is designed for parents of toddlers as young as 12 months all the way to preschoolers- three and four year olds. Younger toddlers may not express their desires in confusing ways yet. This group will help prepare you for when they do! Older toddlers and preschools are notorious for displaying behaviors that might be described as "dramatic" or "terrible." This group will discuss basic brain development, illuminating some of the mystery behind kids' behavior and emotional reactions, helping parents to see their child's behavior as communication. Parents will learn strategies to respond to toddler and preschooler behavior in a way that young children understand, decreasing frustration for the child and the adults!

Eight weeks sounds like a long commitment.... why so long?

Group participants will find themselves connected with other group members and want the group to continue once we dive in :) I have offered this group in the past for four weeks and all group members requested it be longer. Once you make the commitment, you'll be glad you did!

Testimonials

"I enjoyed hearing about the stages of development and how our littles take in and understand information. It would be helpful to know more about those stages of development so I can be better informed about what is age appropriate behavior." -Previous participant

"I really enjoyed the conversations and examples around each of the strategies for tantrums. It was nice to see that others had similar issues pop up and hear what other mothers found effective." -Previous participant

"I thought the material was helpful and relevant. Over the last month, my child has started testing boundaries and is embracing toddlerhood with full force and the reassurance that this is normal helps. I'm already using the strategies we talked about and I think they're helping."
